R-410A vs R-32: Which Refrigerant Should You Stock in 2026?

The HVAC industry is in the middle of a major refrigerant transition. R-410A has been the standard for residential and light commercial systems for over two decades, but R-32 is quickly gaining ground as a lower-GWP alternative.

R-410A: Still the most widely used refrigerant in existing systems. If you are servicing or maintaining equipment installed before 2025, you will need R-410A in stock. Prices have stabilized but supply constraints remain a factor.

R-32: Required in many new systems manufactured after January 2025 to comply with AIM Act phase-down schedules. R-32 has a GWP of 675 compared to R-410As GWP of 2088 — a 68% reduction.

Our recommendation: Stock both. Your service fleet needs R-410A for the installed base, and R-32 for new installations. Chilly Air carries both in jug and pallet quantities with volume pricing for contractors.
